Established in 1973, the Women of Reform Judaism Or Ami “Light of My People” Awardย for Special Achievement in Programming recognizes exemplary social justice, community service, and educational programming that serves as a model for other WRJ districts and sisterhoods. This past weekend, CRS Sisterhood received the Or Ami Gold for work with Days for Girls, which is overseen by CRS Sisterhood President Beth Rubin.

CRS Sisterhood volunteers monthly with Days for Girls, a grassroots non-profit that creates reusable feminine hygiene kits for women and girls living in poverty world-wide, including New York City. Without these kits, women and girls would miss 5 days of work and school each month because they canโ€™t afford feminine hygiene.

Sisterhood was given this award at the WRJ Fried Leadership Conference 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee.ย  If you have any interest in getting involved in this project, email sisterhood@crsnyc.org.
