Rodeph Sholom given an Exemplar Award

Rodeph Sholom is dedicated to celebrating our faith and traditions with our special needs families.

This year at the Union for Reform Judaism’s Biennial in Orlando, Congregation Rodeph Sholom received an award for its exemplary work in disabilities inclusion. This award is given to communities who have taken pioneering steps to open wider the doors of belonging and welcoming to meet the needs of all who enter. Our community was highlighted for our Shireinu services, our instructional videos and resources, and the first steps of our Shireinu B’nai Mitzvah program. At the Biennial, several other congregations credited CRS with providing the tools and inspiration to pursue their own worship experiences for families with special needs. Proudly, there are now dozens of other Reform communities around the country who are taking sacred steps in the pursuit of inclusion, and disabilities and special needs awareness and information is a clear priority of the URJ.

Rabbi Ben Spratt, who leads our Shireinu services, gave a special presentation at the URJ Biennial about developing a B’nai Mitzvah program for special needs families, in partnership with the URJ Ruderman Disabilities Inclusion Initiative.
